Planning and Sustainability Intern Position Job Description

Description: The Town of Ithaca Planning Department is looking to hire a student (undergraduate or graduate) for full-time employment for the summer of 2015. The position will involve assisting the Planning staff, including the Sustainability Planner, in a variety of projects, as well as in the daily routine of the Planning Department.  Projects may include research and data analysis, preparing materials for public meetings, mapping assignments, design of brochures and displays, assisting in the implementation of the Town’s Energy Action Plans, conducting outreach, and other activities related to the Town’s sustainability efforts.  Project assignments are likely to involve utilization of GIS software (ArcGIS) for mapping and geographic data analysis.

Requirements: Course work in planning, landscape architecture, environmental studies, energy use, sustainability, climate change, or other related fields. Strong written and oral communication skills.  Experience with ArcGIS software and Microsoft Office is necessary. Local knowledge and possession of a driver license is desirable.

Pay is $12.25/hour.
