Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County’s Way2Go transportation program.....
The Way2Go program helps encourage people to seek varying types of transportation methods, overcome transportation barriers and make smarter transportation choices that save money, support health and well-being, lessen pollution and environmental degradation, and promote a strong equitable community. Way2Go achieves these goals by offering educational programs, engaging in transportation dialogue, and working on collaborative projects. In addition, Way2Go works to help improve transportation systems and services in the region through dialogue among transportation users, providers, planners and advocates. Through involving a diversity of people including students, researchers, community leaders and others from Cornell Cooperative Extension and from across Tompkins County, Way2Go addresses transportation access and education for a wide array of people who live in different locations and face a variety of transportation issues.
Some projects have involved transportation education and social marketing in targeted rural areas, collaborative education outreach with other community education programs, education and support for school staff and families in Ithaca area schools, and the creation of a user-friendly, custom designed ride-matching/ride-sharing website for Tompkins County.
