Every year the Campus Sustainability Office organizes and hosts a Sustainability Leadership Summit, which is a gathering of the President’s Sustainable Campus committee and its partners. The summit brings together multiple campus partners to network, and update the campus community and make progress on various campus sustainability projects and initiatives.

Attendance for summit and workshops is by invitation only. Morning coffee and lunch is provided. This year we are excited to announce a special performance by the Civic Ensemble at 1:00pm is open to all.

  • 9:30am Creative Dialogue Panel: Sustainability Learning & Innovation on Campus
  • 10:15am Parallel Workshops
    Breakout sessions will focus on specific topic areas. Attendees must choose one workshop to attend.

    • Integrating Strategies for Community Engagement within Living Laboratory & Sustainability Curriculum: Facilitated by the Office of Engagement Initiatives. Learn about opportunities to fund and deepen community benefits through sustainability-oriented curricular and research programs.

    • Goal Setting for the 5 Year Campus Sustainability Plan: Cornell University is creating new goals for the next 5-year Sustainability Plan. What is your vision for a sustainable campus? Help create and refine goals in the five plan focus areas: Climate Leadership, Campus (Food, Water, Energy, and more), Community (Diversity, Inclusion, Work/Life Balance), Living Laboratory, and Governance & Finance.

    • CTECH Transportation Camp: CTECH is a living lab initiative in mobility innovation working towards a carbon-neutral Cornell. What is the future of alternative transportation and low-carbon solutions for the Cornell campus? Workshop research and goal setting ideas for electric vehicles and more.
  • 12:00pm Lunch - Keynote Speaker: Professor Max Zhang, Engaged Scholar Prize Winner '17
  • 1:00pm Cornell PMA and the Civic Ensemble Presents: Climate of Change, A Living Newspaper – Open to the public
  • 2:30pm Closing Remarks



Climates of Change: A Living Newspaper Play

Public Performance at 1:00pm

The public and Cornell community are welcome to join the event at 1pm for a performance resulting from a unique collaboration between Ithaca-based theatre company Civic Ensemble, CALS, and the Department of Performing and Media Arts' class Theatre and Social Change with funding by Engaged Cornell. Students and community members will perform a collaboratively developed performance which explores the human impact of climate change in and on the Finger Lakes. Prepare for a powerful engaging experience which includes a talk-back session.
