The Cornell Dining Local Foods Advisory Council (CDLFAC) grew out of a student-initiated effort to increase university procurement of locally grown food in Fall of 2005. The Council is made up of Cornell Dining chefs and staff, distributor Ithaca Produce, students, faculty, and Tompkins County Cooperative Extension agents.

Mission Statement

The Cornell Dining Local Foods Advisory Council aims to improve quality of life for the Cornell campus and surrounding community by supporting efforts to increase University procurement of locally grown food and providing education and outreach related to sustainable food and agriculture.

Recent Activities Include

  • ongoing efforts to increase percentage of locally sourced foods
  • 2nd Annual Fall Harvest Dinner - Sept. 26th, 2007
  • Local Food Growers Dinner in February to promote networking and relationships with local farmers
  • Cornell Dining employee farm tours with local suppliers
  • partnership with Facilitating Sustainable Agriculture Education Conference to provide attendees with fresh, locally-sourced meals
