JOB APPLICATIONS WANTED
TITLE: Urban Forestry Intern
LOCATION: Department of Public Works—Streets and Facilities Division
SCHEDULE: Mid May until mid August
HOURS: 7:00 a.m.– 3:30 p.m. Evening hours required one night per week from 5:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: Responsible for collecting data and entering information obtained on city street and park trees into tree inventory databases. Visual inspection of trees and reporting trees that are structurally suspect or in poor health to the City Forester for further inspection. This position also requires assisting the Citizen Pruners Volunteer Program. Must Interact with City residents in a courteous and helpful manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a current student or recent graduate within twelve (12) months in Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, Natural Resources or related field. Completion of one tree identification class is strongly preferred and course work in tree or forest health is preferred.
