Know your watershed and the specific threats and political issues facing your own watershed. At epa.gov/owow_keep, you can enter your zip code to find your watershed and see a list of citizen-based groups you can join that are associated with protecting it.
Cornell's Ithaca campus lies primarily within the Fall Creek and Cascadilla Creek watersheds, part of the Cayuga Lake and ultimately the Great Lakes watersheds.
