Week 6: Go into Hibernation Mode
Everyone deserves a break over thanksgiving, even your lights, equipment, heaters, and electronics! So before you leave campus for Thanksgiving Break, be sure to flip the switch and pull the plug, in order to make a major dent in your energy use.
We ask you to go cold turkey this week by taking the following actions:
1. Unplug all electronics and power strips
2. Turn off lights and lab/office equipment that will be unused over break
3. Reduce your heat and report maintenance issues to facilities
When Cornellians hibernate campus spaces - even for a short period of time - we collectively reduce our carbon footprint.
Cornell University is committed to carbon neutrality by 2035. We all have a role to play in reducing our energy use and changing behaviors. Together, staff, faculty, and students can co-create an enduring culture of sustainability on campus - for our people and our planet.
