International Alliance of Research Universities (IARU) Global University Climate Forum
A global climate action workshop for university students...comments share
Think global, act local: from 30 November – 11 December countries from around the world will convene in Paris for the UN climate negotiations (COP21). Global climate change is not caused at the global scale, however, and to effectively address it we will need to do more than negotiate. The Global University Climate Forum is a call to action for university students. Student teams are invited to submit ideas for a project that will have measurable impacts – on campus, in communities or regions, or in the world. Selected teams will be invited to send two or three student representatives to participate in this one-day workshop during the conference (date to be confirmed). Following that event, student teams will be asked to report monthly on their progress through an online platform for one year.
(NOTE: The IARU Global University Forum cannot provide funding for student travel or accommodations. Students who cannot attend the event may still participate in the Forum, however. To do this, teams should submit proposals in accordance with the project deadlines. Following the Paris event, the online platform will be available to all participants.)
Before completing an application please read the Application Guide (pdf) carefully. This guide provides information about the Forum, workshop and application process, as well as advice on creating a successful proposal. By completing this application, you are indicating that you would like to join the Forum, have read the requirements outlined in the guide and are willing and able to fulfill them. Please email email@example.com with any questions or concerns about the application, possible projects, or the event in Paris.
In order to accommodate the varied schedules of universities around the world, the Global Forum will hold two application sessions. Students who plan to attend COP21 and who will need visas to travel to France are strongly encouraged to apply during the first application session.
