Cornell earns 10th place in Sierra Club’s Cool Schools Ranking

Cornell moved from #18th greenest school to #10 greenest school ...

Just this week Cornell was acknowledged as the #10 greenest school of 2012, moving up from #18 in 2011. This announcement comes 3 months after the release of the annual Cool Schools ranking in August when Cornell was inaccurately ranked #15. Sierra Club announced this week that due to a technical data-transfer error, Cornell University originally received zero points for the "Innovation" category. The data error occurred when Sierra Club downloaded data from Cornell’s STARS profile and inaccurately calculated the points associated with the innovation category that Cornell had completed and received full credit for in the STARS profile. If Sierra Club had accurately calculated the points for their Cool Schools ranking then Cornell would have received 35 credits in innovation category. Had that error not occurred, Cornell would have placed higher in Sierra's Cool School rankings -- moving from 15th to 10th place.
