Cornell Outdoor Education Physical Education Programs

Position Summary:
The student coordinator is a part-time position (10-15 hours per week) for a current Cornell University student who desires the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the business/administrative side of outdoor education. The position would officially start at the beginning of the Fall 2015 semester and continue for the Spring 2016 semester with the option of some work over this summer as well.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Maintain Important Dates calendar and help keep the COE community informed about what’s going on
  • Complete business purpose forms for incoming receipts for classes
  • Keep COE staff photo board and online profiles up to date
  • Collect and manage new photos and updates for COE facebook page
  • Assist full time coordinators with staff hiring and staff trainings
  • Assist with planning & organizing community wide events including end of year celebration, pot lucks, FAST, service projects, and new events 
  • Organize & maintain the COE library
  • Office filing of course folders and instructor certifications
  • Suggest updates to staff manuals:  ice breakers, lesson plans, trail maps
  • Assist with marketing for classes, special events and recruiting new instructors
  • Serve as a liaison among the various aspects of COE (CTLC, PE programs, Outdoor Odyssey, Outfitting, Front office) 
  • Work various special programs as needed
  • Assist with fueling and checking on vans
  • Design and implement special projects as needed
Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of Cornell Outdoor Education Physical Education Programs
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Computer proficiency
  • Flexible, energetic, team player
  •  Visionary about building community at COE
  • Work Study eligibility is preferred

Appointment:
Position begins paid training immediately. Hours are flexible, but mostly during business hours (9am – 5pm).
Pay:  $10.00 per hour
