APPLY NOW! 2013 ECOREP PROGRAM COORDINATOR - APPLICATION DEADLINE is MONDAY, January 14th, 2013

The EcoRep Program Coordinator is a year-long position  to begin Spring semester at 10 hours a week during the school year and transition to 20 hours a week during the summer Pay: $11/hour. Background on the EcoReps program: http://www.sustainablecampus.cornell.edu/initiatives/student-ecoreps

The Cornell EcoRep program is one of the many ways that students are contributing to the University’s sustainability efforts and commitment to eliminate carbon emissions by 2050. EcoReps help engage their peers in the campus’ sustainability efforts through education and positive role modeling in their places of residence. The EcoReps educate fellow students on a variety of different ways they can live more sustainably through engaging and relevant programming. The topics that EcoReps address include water and energy conservation, recycling, composting, green purchasing, alternative transportation, and other important parts of sustainable living. All of Cornell’s EcoReps are enrolled in the course ALS 1500, Sustainable Lifestyles with Professor Brian Chabot. Support and training are also provided by the Dean of Students/Residential Programs and Cornell Outdoor Education.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment of students to become EcoReps and to the Sustainable Lifestyles course
  • Serve as a teaching assistant to the Sustainable Lifestyles course
  • Mentor and coach students in the course regarding outreach projects
  • Work closely with Residential Programs, Residence Hall directors, and Residential Advisors to support effective program planning by the students
  • Help lead an orientation training for class participants early in the fall semester
  • Collaborate with other sustainability interns to develop informational toolkits for EcoReps
  • Maintain a library of educational materials produced by EcoReps
  • Track and evaluate programs run by the EcoReps

  • Strong written communication and editing skills
  • Graphic design experience
